THE GALIARA JOURNEY

Apple Founder Steve Jobs once said

“ I think part of what made Apple great, was that the people working on it were musicians, poets and artists…..”

The Bridge & The Matchmaker

The Galiara Initiative in San Francisco, for approved members, has evolved over 10 years, to identify, fund, empower, pair, mentor and promote emerging talent from the creative arts with the new age Eco System of patrons, so artists can do what they do best

“CREATE”

What is the New Age Creative Arts Eco System ?

Never before in the history, has so much wealth been dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Arts.
Foundations, Governments, Individuals, Philanthropists, Non Profits, The Internet, Corporates, Business to name a few have are all aligning themselves with the arts in some form or the other.

Galiara creates targeted visibility for members within the Eco system above.

The Pain Points
In the US alone, people affiliated to the creative arts are in the millions desperate to reach out

There are 20 major cultural cities in the US
Each of these has only a  handful of exhibit opportunities
Access for  artists  is negligible  due to geographical and monetary restrictions
As  new display technology, brings the “touch and feel” experience to the buyer’s fingertips,
buyers physical appearances in exhibits is minimal

Observation

The old model of exposure to creativity over wine and cheese is over
The Internet STILL, is a “free for all”, “sign up with your email” ocean.
Artists as well as images are lost and just about anyone with Internet access can sign up.

SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco has led the movement to merge Art with Technology since the early 80’s and continues to bring the emotion in Art, to Life. Thanks to Google, Apple and Silicon Valley R&D, artists can convey expressions to patrons, from the far ends of the earth with an "almost" touch and feel experience, in an instance.

San Francisco - The new epicenter of the Art World

Truly, Silicon Valley is largely responsible for the digital ubiquity of the art world. It changed the Art world as we have known for millennia, forever. Showing art is no more restricted to the few.

Creativity has become one of the biggest influencers of our time. From birth, children are influenced and surrounded by art and creativity, be it in school, parks, through audio visual interactive platforms, museums or cinema. New interactive mediums are engaging them even earlier.

The goal for a better "touch and feel" experience for the user is the most crucial aspect of  the new age, whether it is Apple, Android or Social Media through new display technology on gadgets,

More good news

THIS is the best era to have been born an artist.

Never in the history of humanity has so much wealth been dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Arts.

Foundations, Governments, Individuals, Philanthropists, Non Profits, The Internet, Corporates, Business, Academia to name a few, are all aligning themselves with the arts in some form or the other.

One big challenge, is HOW to access this huge abyss of wealth and get empowered

We need to disect this challenge a bit

“Before And After Google And”

Since time immemorial artists had to depend on themselves or their neighborhood “Medici” (Businessman patron) to promote them, with no other way to reach beyond their immediate area of existence.

In 1998 Google changed that.  Artists finally had a window to the entire globe from their back yards and on their fingertips.

Did they know how to handle this WMD (Weapon of Mass Distribution) ? Did any of us ?
It is a science by itself

Maturity of the Internet Age & The Touch And Feel Era

Up until recently, internet speeds were still slow. Many did not even have internet access or were unfamiliar with its usage. Uploading quality images was a huge challenge too.

Then came along Apple Inc. Clarity of images on Apple products almost created a new “touch and feel” experience for the buyer as well as host.

YET - Even as Silicon Valley continues to unleash the information age on the world, many creative people still languish in our own backyards. In addition, thousands pass out of Art universities annually, excited but eventually faced with the reality of huge debts and no direction.

The Art World In Transition

Physical Art Galleries worldwide - the "Cradles" of art -as we have known them, still showcase only well known artists, due to the huge cost complexity of promoting unknown faces.  IF at all, it can take years for an emerging artist to submit and get accepted for a BIG show.

So what happens to someone who has decided to dedicate their whole life to creating Art?

Read on.....

The virtual art world is still a very scattered space. Most virtual platforms are a “free for all” - “sign up with your email” - soiree with a zillions of images. Artists profiles as well as images are lost and just about anyone with Internet access can sign up.

The REAL Challenge

Even as Artists are empowered with tools of the information age, the BIGGEST challenge facing them is :

LACK OF FUNDS & KNOW HOW

How to promote themselves individually - with very few entities to empower them. Artists would prefer to spend their valuable and very limited time to create.

  • Unfamiliarity of the information age.
  • How to drive traffic to their own individual websites if they have managed to create one.
  • Current “Free for all” online platforms: Profiles are increasingly lost in a maze of billions of other images.

Patrons empower Artists More

Artists across the globe need not spend precious time searching for galleries. They can finally focus on what they do best - Create Art, sitting in their studios.

  2. Market your art skills

Abandon Ship ? Lets face the truth for a moment.....................
The student loan debt of young artists in the US are staggering to say the least. The loans service the schools but leave students disillusioned.

Many Art schools are noted, not so much for academic excellence, graduation rates, and stunning success of alumni, as they are for being the largest landlords.
Student loan debt, that can never be discharged by bankruptcy, will severely compromise students futures in ways they have yet to imagine.
The only possible way out for these artists is to collaborate with empowerment platforms or jump ship.

"Collaborative Empowerment Model"

The pairing of Artists with an institution that has the technological and the people strength to leverage their work.

The Education System Methodology

Accomplished by pairing the Artists with Charities, Foundations, Corporations, Institutions, individuals, media, events and dedicated professionals, access to grants, philanthropists. Since this effort requires an outreach effort of a gigantic proportion, it is possible only to promote a collective and impossible to promote single individuals. A merit based education system format - Select Invited artists contribute into a common pool which promotes the limited collective through various outreach initiatives. AT the same time artists CAN avail of independent promotion through assigned counselors.

They make the finest cars on the planet BUT Why do GM or Mercedes still spend $billions to advertise and Market their cars ?

Continued awareness. They have to keep ahead of the game by continuously remaining in their consumers mindset through outreach.
The same principle applies to artists on the micro level.

How does someone creating work in a remote area reach out ?

The Key lies in finding an institution who can catapult them to the next level.

These vital life skills are not taught in art school or in business school. (We have worked with several artists who are successful entrepreneurs, majored in marketing and even those with an MBA.)
And it’s for good reason. Trying to master sales and marketing in an academic environment, is like going to a seminar to learn how to ride a bike.
The harsh reality that is awaiting these young artists is that they will need to take whatever job they can get to pay their debt and to cover their basic living expenses, leaving little time and energy for making art.
So it is highly likely that they will abandon their art.
_______________________________________________

Of course, there are those with no concern of debt.
They are looking for soul satisfying gratification or searching for more meaning.
They pursued art when they were young but he did what they need to do for the family, pursue a more profitable career to support them.
This is admirable.
Successful professionals who are artists too, contribute a great deal to the enhancement of the cause. They are able to activate their ecosystem because of their personal network, one that will likely buy art.

Art Becomes "The Emotional Currency" Of The Internet Age

As 20 year olds' become millionaires in Silicon Valley and a whole new generation right from birth gets exposed to art, Art is increasingly becoming is a form of expressive emotion.

While Art is the cradle of an artist's DNA and emotions, the patrons are the beholders of that emotion. Patrons increasingly want to know the person behind the Art. Buying art is increasingly becoming impulsive and less about appreciation in value. Its like inviting a new person to come and live with them in their house.

In the olden days appreciation of art was restricted to few. The advent of the internet age has changed that forever.

An artist can also be a Foodie or a Writer or a Singer and have multi faceted creative lives.

                                                                         Age No Bar

Today, one does not need $millions in the bank to buy art.

The Beginning - Finally, Its Really About The Artist

Thus was born, Galiara, San Francisco, an Artist Empowerment Initiative to mentor, fund and promote a select collective of artists. It was started by a group of silicon valley professionals greatly influenced by the lack of quality opportunities for creative people in spite of the maturity of the internet age (a gift of Silicon Valley itself).

A home within a home

Galiara is the one stop platform where the multi faceted creative aspect of every artist is showcased. An artist can also be a Foodie or a Writer or a Singer. This is where they get to show that side of themselves to the world. A page where their entire creative life can be visible.

To Quote The State Assembly Of California Commendation……..

“Galiara provides a synergistic supportive environment where artists are mentored and strategically marketed so as to become successful as well as be respected and honored for their artistic abilities..”

Governor of California Jerry Brown supporting an Artist Empowerment Initiative

No Artist Left Behind

Galiara strives to continue the legacy of Silicon Valley, by selecting and mentoring select accomplished individuals through a combination of physical representation and the internet.

For over 10 years, Galiara, has sponsored Artist initiatives out of San Francisco & Silicon Valley, in partnership with corporate, philanthropists, private donors and great support from the City Officials of San Francisco and the Governor of California who have graced many events to lend their valued support.
